Michelle Costantini, BA, ALC, AFNC received her 500-hour Ayurveda Food & Nutrition Consultant certificate from the International University of Yoga & Ayurveda, Salt Springs, Florida. She received the Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant certificate at the Centro Ayurveda in Genoa, Italy and at the Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat Hospital in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, India. Michelle will also be pursuing her interest in herbs and medicinal plants.
Michelle began studying Ayurveda after having switched practitioners from a traditional medical doctor to an Ayurveda Vaidya in 2008. She was amazed at how the Vaidya was able to resolve problems the GP told her she would have to live with.
“I found the holistic approach of the Vaidya unique in that even if two people are suffering from the same ailment, their treatment will most likely differ because it is based on factors such as constitution, age, and lifestyle. I admire their ability to diagnose a problem with sensitive, natural techniques and not with diagnostic medical machines, but above all they confirm my longtime belief that food is not only an important factor in wellbeing, but a primary factor.”
Michelle offers consultations on food choices and cooking alternatives, and suggests simple lifestyle changes that will improve your health by allowing your body to better digest the food you eat and thus assimilate its nutrients. Michelle also offers cooking demonstrations and workshops for individuals and small groups.
Michelle graduated with a BA from the State University of Plattburg in N.Y. majoring in art history. She worked in Italy for 20 years primarily as an ESL teacher (English as Second Language) and for the last 8 years has been focusing her attention on food and nutrition.
